Development of shop floor and layout
• Identify proper machines, tools, software for precision manufacturing in aerospace, defence, energy and other industrial applications
• Coordinate with machine tool vendors, software providers on training, installation, repairs and maintenance
• Develop a proper machine shop floor layout to optimise space, follow lean manufacturing principles and ensure safety
• Assist in contacting, negotiating and refurbishing with new and used machine vendors
Training
• Select, train, and develop shop floor personnel, operators on machines and relevant manufacturing processes
• Develop a proper annual training programme for various departments
Productivity
• Monitor department work productivity, reports on trends, and recommend and implement changes to continually improve work productivity
• Study existing job orders, cycle time and machine productivity. Develop a time bound plan to reduce manufacturing outsourcing to less than 20% of overall machining value
• Study the new jobs and development orders to optimise process planning, cycle time and shop floor productivity
• Develop a proper production plan for the shop floor that tracks capacity utilisation by machine, cycle time per job, productivity per employee
• Manage the daily operations of the plant including the production work groups
Development Work
• Study design, drawings and determine manufacturing process to be followed in order to develop components in consultation with engineering team
• Coordinate with machine tool vendors, software vendors for development job requirements
• Plan development work for clients along with regular job flow
Request for Proposal
• Manage and assist in timely and coordinated Request for Proposal (RFP) responses from clients
• Assist in developing a proper pricing basis for RFPs
• Develop RFP analysis to understand win loss ratio and causes/improvement in future
Supervisory responsibility
• Schedule employees and temporary workers, handle time off requests and employee issues
• Establish performance standards and objectives for direct staff
• Ensures continuous improvement of productivity standards and worker safety performance
• Administer all policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
• Review daily production sheets from leads to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Handle minor breakdowns of equipment, work with Maintenance to repair or fix the issue.
Production Quality
• Ensure superior production quality, tolerance levels with minimal process iterations and rejects
• Maintain superior customer service and on-time delivery
Customer audits
• Ensure readiness of shop floor and manufacturing process requirement/documentation for client audit inspections
• Assist in compliance with customer audit observations and requirements
Safety and compliance
• Ensure the plant meets regulatory and safety compliance measures and operates in a productive and profitable manner.
• Make recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accident or injuries.
• Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
• Submits safety, quality and production reports regularly to JADE division in charge
Vendor Development and Outsourcing
• Develop vendors for outsourcing by JADE including castings, forgings, sub-assemblies and heat treatment as relevant. Audit vendor quality and suggest changes to their processes as relevant
